#7 AWARENESS
Consenting to be transformed by the admission of what we perceive, no matter how “good” or “bad" or both it is
Awareness is how we avoid extinction.
Awareness is transformative. This is why many people avoid awareness and hide in ignorance. Once we consent to be aware, we set a chain of events in motion; we admit what we perceive, we reckon, we reevaluate, and we are compelled to act from our new awareness to realign ourselves with our values from our new vantage point.
If we care about doing “what’s right,” when we admit our actions are misaligned with what we perceive as “right,” we will feel driven to act differently. Awareness calls us into action. Deep down we know the call to action is intrinsically tied to awareness.
Hiding in ignorance is the last defense against the internal pull toward evolution.
It is hard work to fight an alive universe that is bigger and stronger than us. The path of least resistance is to embrace awareness and evolve. There is a simplicity, a minimalism, to stopping the mental gymnastics to avoid uncomfortable truths. We find groundedness in simply being here now, with everything else that is here now.
With the practice of Awareness, we avoid the anxiety and depression of refusing to transform and simply expand our awareness.
