When the brutality of balance comes for you, be grateful. Karma’s balance creates the world of fairness you desire. Colonized people fear the brutality of justice, fairness, and accountability. But perhaps the greatest gift is to deliver the balance no one will else will give; with nothing added, and nothing left out.
The brutality of harmony is its thoroughness.
Some days your forest burns to the ground to create ecosystem harmony. Destruction doesn’t mean something “bad” is happening. Beyond identifying as an individual who is facing loss, we can identify as an ecosystem whose next evolution is being nourished by the return of nutrients and seeds to the soil.
I live in the United States of America in 2025 and most people here cannot see that Donald Trump is dismantling our systems of oppression more effectively than we ever could. Most people don’t see justice is coming to a world that has been brutalized by the United States’ foreign policy since the violent birth of this violent nation. What goes around comes around and we can be nourished by justice even when we are the ones paying it. If we cry at the inconvenience of balance when it arrives, we miss the opportunity to savor life’s justice. As I watch the United States crumble under the weight of our arrogance and ignorance, I feel the balancing of life. Even as my individual safety comes under threat.
Did you know the body can become so sick that treatment could cause death? Sometimes alcoholism has damaged the body so badly that sobriety’s withdrawal symptoms kill it. That’s why all indigenous medicines recommend swift and gentle treatment when problems are small. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Do not let the illnesses fester, like colonized people do. You could get so sick that getting well could kill you.
I live in a United States with a gangrenous heart, an addiction to trauma, and a stanch refusal to see a doctor or a therapist. It is possible that we won’t survive the treatment of Reckoning life is forcing upon us.
But that’s ok with me. Survival is not mandatory.
Everything old and outdated will be composted to fuel new life. And if I have to give my life and my safety to the compost pile to nourish the life that comes after me, it will be my sacred duty and delight to die, and get out of the way so new life can have their turn.
The old paradigm had its time. The old paradigm will be composted now, with all its ride or die’s, cronies, and zealots. I have aligned myself with the aliveness of life and so, in some way, my aliveness will live on in the life that comes after me.
Behold! I am not afraid of the forward movement of life. I can move with life no matter where life is going. In this way, I am endlessly alive.
Join me here in the safety of liberation. You cannot control the evolution of life, but you can side with aliveness, who always wins in the end.
Let the old compost.
Connect with the aliveness being nourished.
Be your Ecosystem Self to live and die at the same time.
